Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Wrinkles are common in both men and women as we age. People are living longer and are more active in the desire to stay looking young. Hair dye is a solution to cover grey hairs and medicine has provided us with a method to help with wrinkles.

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-Wrinkle injections are a purified protein, much like penicillin. This protein interferes with the normal transmission of signals between the nerve and muscle, thereby preventing the muscles from working or contracting. The effects however are not permanent as the body breaks down this protein.

What is the Aim of Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

The purpose of Anti-Wrinkle injections is to stop the muscle and skin contracting therefore stopping lines forming. If you don’t fold skin it will not wrinkle, so the anti-wrinkle injections stop the skin folding and prevent lines from forming or becoming more obvious.

At New Age Skin Care we are inclined to work on the premise that “less is more” we want you to still have some movement but want to soften the lines.

What is involved?

Firstly you meet with one of our Cosmetic Registered Nurse Practitioners who will gather information such as your medical history including any known allergies and medications. Then, we arrange a consultation with a medical practitioner to organise the prescription for the medication. At New Age Skin Care we work with Renaissance Clinics. Anti-Wrinkle injections at our clinic in Wagga Wagga are administered through a series of injections through a very fine needles. The effects of the injection are seen from about 3-5 days post the procedure and will last between 3-6 months. After a single treatment, muscle movement will return to normal and your lines and wrinkles return to their original state. Having regular top ups will gradually weaken the muscle, and reduce the need (in either volume or time) of ongoing treatments.
Generally the procedure is well tolerated by clients without the need for any anaesthetic. We do find that the application of ice pre and post procedure minimises the discomfort experienced.

Are there any side-effects?

Side effects are temporary and can include pain in the sight of injection, bruising, tenderness, headaches and flu-like symptoms. Less common effects are a temporary droopy eyelid or nausea. Most people return to work immediately after their anti-wrinkle injections in Wagga Wagga.

Treatment should not be given to those with sensitivity to the given product, current active skin infections and women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive. Treatment should be cautioned in those with neuro muscular diseases including Bell’s Palsy and Myasthenia Gravis, serious auto-immune and clotting disorders and those with generally poor health.

What does this type of treatment cost?

The cost of the treatment is dependent on the number of units that you require. At New Age Skin Care we have aimed to make the cost very affordable. We offer a consultation with the Medical Practitioner at a flat rate which is to obtain a prescription that is valid for 12 months.

Common areas to be treated are:

  • Glabella or Frown line

  • Crows Feet

  • Forehead lines
