Laser Hair Reduction
Laser hair reduction offers a long-term approach to unwanted hair, helping reduce regrowth and the need for regular shaving, waxing or plucking.
At New Age Skin Care, we believe feeling confident in your skin starts with care that suits your personal lifestyle. Laser hair reduction is one of our preferred treatments for achieving smoother skin, reducing unwanted hair and simplifying your everyday routine.
-
Laser hair reduction uses targeted light energy to heat the pigment within the hair follicle, helping to reduce its ability to produce hair.
As hair grows in different cycles, a series of treatments is needed to achieve the best possible reduction. Results vary depending on your skin, hair colour and individual response to treatment.
-
Laser hair reduction can be used on a range of areas, depending on your skin tone, hair colour and suitability for treatment.
Popular treatment areas include:
Face and upper lip
Underarms
Legs
Bikini line
Arms
Back and chest
Your Registered Nurse will discuss the most appropriate options during your consultation.
-
The laser delivers controlled light energy that is absorbed by pigment in the hair. This energy heats the follicle, helping to reduce future hair growth.
Because hair grows in different phases, multiple sessions are required to target hairs during their active growth cycle. Treatments are spaced over time to support the best possible outcome.
-
Comfort levels vary depending on the individual and the area being treated.
You may experience a brief warming or snapping sensation during treatment, although many clients find modern laser hair reduction more comfortable than waxing or epilating.
Your Registered Nurse will explain what to expect and help ensure you feel comfortable throughout your treatment.
-
Treatment time depends on the size and number of areas being treated.
Smaller areas, such as the upper lip or underarms, generally take less time than larger areas, such as the legs or back.
Your Registered Nurse can provide an estimated treatment time during your consultation.
Most clients can return to their usual activities soon after treatment.
You may experience temporary redness, warmth or sensitivity in the treated area. These effects are generally short-lived, although individual responses vary.
Your Registered Nurse will explain what to expect and advise you of any precautions relevant to your treatment.
-
A course of approximately six to eight treatments is often recommended, although the number required will vary depending on your hair growth, treatment area and individual response.
As treatment progresses, you may notice less hair, finer regrowth and longer periods between shaving.
Occasional maintenance treatments may be beneficial over time to manage any regrowth.
-
Treated hairs may begin to shed within approximately five to fourteen days following treatment.
You may notice a gradual reduction in hair growth as you progress through your treatment course. Results develop over time and vary from person to person.
Avoid waxing or plucking between sessions, as these methods remove the hair from the follicle. Shaving is generally recommended between treatments, following your Registered Nurse’s advice.
-
Suitability depends on several factors, including your skin tone, hair colour, medical history, medications and recent sun exposure.
Some hair colours, particularly white, grey, very light blonde or red hair, may respond less effectively to laser treatment.
A consultation allows us to assess your individual needs, discuss expected results and determine whether laser hair reduction is appropriate for you.
-
In preparation for your treatment, we ask that you avoid any type of sun exposure in the treatment area for two weeks prior. If the area is exposed, applying an 50+ SPF sunscreen on the day of your appointment is a requirement. We also ask that you shave the designated area as you normally would either the night before, or the morning of your treatment, to ensure you get the best results.
Your Registered Nurse will provide any other personalised aftercare advice at the time of your treatment including any specific instructions relevant to your skin and treatment plan.

The cost depends on the size of the treatment area and the number of sessions recommended.
