New Age Skin Care’s Four Steps to the Perfect Iso Facial

New Age Skin Care’s Four Steps to the Perfect Iso Facial:

The impact of COVID-19 has created massive changes across most aspects of our daily lives. For so many of us, working from home while trying to home school children – and still somehow keep the house stocked with toilet paper – has certainly been a challenge!

And when it comes to our usual self care and beauty maintenance? Well, most of us would probably prefer not to talk about it.

From trimming our own fringes, to colouring our own hair to DIY pedicures, many of us have already ventured into uncomfortable territory with our beauty maintenance routines – and no doubt with some mixed results.

This is why we usually leave our hair removal, manicures, lash extensions, and self-tanning to the industry professionals. Our requirements for beauty maintenance are certainly one area where it makes sense to outsource.

Until the government begins easing the current social distancing measures, there will continue to be many beauty services that are on hold – for now and in to the foreseeable future.

However, there is some good news: when it comes to your facial skin care, there is still lots you can do at home, and without any disastrous DIY consequences! (Not true of a bikini wax!)

There is so much you can do during the lockdown that can help your face feel and look fresh, especially when your DIY facial is combined with the right products

While an at-home facial treatment may not garner the same results as a professionally-administered salon facial, it can still go a long way in improving the overall look, feel and quality of your skin. (Not to mention what it does for the soul!) This is especially true if you are able to do your home facials once or even twice a week. So, while the lockdown continues, use this as an opportunity to give yourself a little bit of some much-needed self-care. So, without further ado…

Here are New Age Skin Care’s Four Steps to the Perfect Iso Facial:

Even in a salon, a facial often consists of four basic steps: cleanse, exfoliate, mask and moisturise. Below are a few tips to help you get started:

  1. Cleanse – it’s important to choose a product that best suits your skin. Consider not just your skin type (dry, oily, breakout-prone, combination) but also your age. For a good all-rounder, I recommend Apect’s Puristat 5 Cleanser. If you are doing your DIY facial after work, or you are also removing makeup, I recommend washing your face twice to ensure you are starting with the cleanest possible skin.

  2. Exfoliate – everyone loves this part of a facial. It’s both relaxing and rejuvenating, the step where you can often feel the product working its magic. My go-to suggestion for this step is Exfol L. This product includes what has long been considered the ‘fountain of youth’ ingredient – a combination of alpha hydroxy acids (AHA). AHAs are dermatological gold. As an exfoliant, Exfol L will not only help to slough away dead skin cells, but the ingredients also work to nourish and speed up the skin’s natural renewal cycle. Winning!

  3. Mask – ah, who doesn’t love a nice, thick, cooling mask applied to fresh skin? Here is where you can really customise your facial with a mask tailored to your specific skin needs. If you want a moisture boost as winter creeps in, or to do a deep, purifying cleanse of skin prone to breakouts, there is a mask to suit your needs.

  1. Moisturise – as with masks, it is good idea to customise this step, based on what will be a good investment for your skin type and your age. To complete your DIY iso facial, you can either pick a ‘treat’ moisturiser (one that you may use just a few times a week) or finish off with your daily moisturiser. If you are looking for a good moisturiser that will suit most skin types and needs, Aspect’s Phytostat 9 is a great choice.

If you are looking for a quick version of this, or to sample some of the above products to kick start your at-home-facial experience, consider Apect’s Starter Kit. This all-in-one package includes Puristat 5, Exfol L, Phytostat 9 and their excellent Vitamin C Serum, Extreme C, which is packed with corrective botanicals to nourish and protect your skin.

So now, go quarantine in the bathroom (maybe with a nice Quarantini or other cocktail!), where you can relax, have fun and enjoy. And remember, there are never any bad results from an at-home facial!

Best,

Jo
