3 Must Do Skin Care Tips

Skin Care Must Do's.jpg

Even as we age gracefully (or disgracefully?!), who doesn’t want to wind back the skin clock just a little bit for that youthful glow?

Here’s my 3 ‘must do’ daily actions that will keep you looking younger for longer:

1.      Twice a Day: No Exceptions

Wash your face twice a day, dames. Just like we need oxygen to breathe, our skin needs oxygen to repair itself at night.

Cleansing the skin at night has been shown to keep the skin looking younger for longer. If your skin is coated in makeup and grime, it can’t breathe. Removing your makeup allows your anti-ageing serums to penetrate and take full effect while you catch some Zzs (not to mention avoiding the morning raccoon eyes).

Cleansing can also reduce pore size. Forget to cleanse nightly and your poor pores will be suffering in silence, drowning under the weight of the skin’s sebum, pollutants and dead skin cells. Let those pores breathe again! Cleansing removes the excess muck and prevents clogging.

And morning cleansing is just as important as the nightly ritual. It gives you a fresh slate before you pop your makeup back on, sloughing off the dead skin cells and bacteria that gather on our face while we sleep.

2.      Serum Superhero: Vitamin C

The skin brightener superhero of the lot, Vitamin C serum is a powerful antioxidant that can dramatically repair the look and feel of environmentally damaged skin. Like any great superhero, it tackles just about every sign of dermal ageing you can imagine, fighting off all the toxins and nasties that build up day to day. It’s the Wonder Woman of serums for thirsty, dry skin. It also combats the decline in the elasticity and firmness of our skin as we age (and reverses the effects of all those years soaking up the sun).

3.      Layer it Up: Vitamin A Serum

Since 1984, retinol (a form of Vitamin A) has been the holy grail of clear, healthy and youthful looking skin and is now considered the “gold standard” in anti-ageing skin care. Why? Because this stuff seriously works. The clinical studies show that retinol can smooth away fine lines, plump out the appearance of deeper wrinkles, even out your skin tone, promote firmer skin texture, clarify pigmentation, regulate oily skin, restore a healthy glow and take 10kg off your waist line. (Actually, that last part’s not true but retinol really is a heavy lifting skin wizard, girls.) Layer your Vitamin C serum with this Vitamin A sister serum and your skin will be more youthful than Gwynnie Paltrow after a Dr Junger cleanse.

So there’s my simple 3-step plan to shave years off your ‘skin’ life.
