Curious about lip fillers?

Our friendly, qualified team are here to answer your questions and deliver great results!

We see many clients day to day for laser hair removal, chemical peels, and other skin care treatments, and some of you have expressed an interest in lip fillers. Often, we hear two main concerns when it comes to trying new treatments for the first time. First, “What is actually in it?”, which we know really means, “Is it safe?” and second, “I don’t want to look like someone of Love Island!” We understand no one wants to look unnatural.

New Age Skin Care has the answers to these concerns. So if you’re part of the uninitiated when it comes to lip fillers but you’re thinking of taking the plunge, here’s some of the quick info we like to share with our ‘before’ clients to address these common concerns.

What are lip fillers?

The lip filler procedure involves the injection of hyaluronic acid into a patient’s lips to increase the volume and therefore improve the shape of the lips. Hyaluronic acid is actually a natural substance and is normally found in the body, mainly in the fluids in your joints or eyes.

Hyaluronic acid may sound intimidating; however its purpose is to cushion the surrounding tissues and it plays a vital role in keeping our skin cells volumized and hydrated, and yes, lip fillers add volume to your lips without affecting the muscles, so you can still have natural movement even after the injections!

Are lip fillers safe?

First and foremost, we care about our clients, which is why the lip fillers used in our Wagga clinic have been on the international market since 1996 and have a proven safety record.

There are very few reasons that would prohibit a person from getting lip fillers.  The lip fillers we use at New Age Skin Care produce consistent results, have a very low risk of side effects and have little downtime after your treatment.

Lip fillers are safe provided you are in the hands of our caring, qualified team. You can use at-home products to fill out your lips and whilst there are plenty of things that you can DIY, lip fillers should never be one of them!

Lip filler results

Lip fillers add volume to your upper or lower lip skin without affecting the muscles, so you can still have natural expression and movement even after the injections. The results we have seen in our Wagga clinic typically last from 12-18 months depending on the area treated, choice of filler, and how fast the patient’s body metabolises (absorbs) the dermal filler.

Our Wagga clients are always impressed with the results, see the customer reviews of all our services here.

Are lip fillers painful?

We of course use local anaesthetic in the form of a cream or injection, which can be applied before the treatment to remove any discomfort. Most of our lip fillers are now produced with a local anaesthetic premixed into the solution so you don’t feel the procedure.

At New Age Skin Care our experienced team will perform the procedure, which consists of a few injections in the treatment area, and can be completed in about 30 minutes. You may have some bruising and need a cold compress; however most people return to work on the same day after getting their lips filled.

How much lip filler do I need?

The amount of lip filler really depends on you lips and the results you hope to achieve. Are you hoping to have a full, impactful result, or something more subtle?

When booking you’ll notice our appointments vary by the amount of filler you would like. Generally speaking, 1ml will produce a more full, noticeable result. If you have never had lip fillers before you can start subtle with 0.5ml and test the waters as you get comfortable with your new lips.

How long do lip fillers last?

Lip fillers can last up to 12 months depending on how fast your body absorbs the hyaluronic acid. After your appointment you may have some initial swelling, which will reside, then over the coming months your lips will slowly decrease in fullness until they return to their original shape. You may need some touch up treatments to maintain your desired look.
